Answer the following questions (type answers on this document), save the file, e-mail it to Professor Ken Carpenter, and post the questions and answers on your blog.

1. Have you enjoyed reading the Wall Street Journal? Explain why you have enjoyed it, or why not.

Answer: I have enjoyed reading the Wall Street Journal, because it has taught me a lot of things that I didn’t know were going on around the world, and around me. Also, it has created a routine in my life.

2. How has reading the newspaper helped you learn about Mass Communications media? Explain, and give some examples of what you’ve learned.

Answer: Reading the newspaper has taught me what is going on in the mass communications’ world. For example, how many newspaper companies are closing down, due to the fact that they don’t sell a lot, and they try to cut down Ads. This is an example of how Ads work, and what they do.

3. Compared to traditional textbook-based study and learning methods, is reading the newspaper a better or worse educational experience? Expand your answers with details and examples.

Answer: I believe that sometimes a traditional book-based study does well in a class. However, reading the newspaper gives the students the opportunity to learn what is actually happening in the mass communications world.

4. Has the reading assignment changed your behavior, i.e., your daily schedule, your study habits, your desire for news and information?

Answer: My reading habits have changed since I started reading the newspaper, because now I know that I HAVE to read. It’s created a routine. Therefore, forcing me to change my daily schedule to introduce at least 1-2 hours to read the newspaper.

5. Are the weekly quizzes an effective way to measure what you’ve learned by reading the Wall Street Journal? If yes, why? If no, why? Add suggestions for other ways to measure learning.

Answer: Yes, I believe that the quizzes are a good way to measure if we’ve learned anything and also if we’ve learned. If you don’t put time into the reading, you won’t do well in the quizzes, which is the most major assignment out of the class.

6. How likely are you to renew your subscription to The Wall Street Journal after this semester? Give an expansive answer, with reasons.

Answer: Honestly I am not sure. I could renew it so I could be informed on a daily basis of what is going on. However, I tend to be that kind of person that if I am not forced to do something, I am most likely not to do it. Also, I barely have time to spend with my mother, since I am always working and in school, and the days we are both free, I can’t seem to spend quality time with her because I am so full of homework.
